Menopause Care That Sees the Whole You
Serving the areas but not limited to Richmond, Tuckahoe, Bon Air, Henrico County and Chesterfield County, VA

Perimenopause and menopause can bring changes that affect sleep, mood, energy, comfort, sexual health, and everyday life. At Direct Wellness Primary Care, we take time to listen, understand what you are experiencing, and build an individualized plan around your symptoms, health history, goals, and preferences.

You Deserve More Than “Just Deal With It”
Your Symptoms Are Worth a Conversation
Menopause is a normal life transition, but that does not mean disruptive symptoms have to be ignored. Symptoms and their impact can vary widely from person to person, and the right approach to care should be just as individualized.
Because menopause care is part of your broader health, primary care is an ideal place to look at the full picture - including symptoms, medications, preventive screenings, cardiovascular and bone health, sleep, mood, weight, and other concerns that may be changing at the same time.
Symptoms & Concerns We Can Discuss
A menopause-focused visit may include discussion of concerns such as:

• Hot flashes and night sweats

• Changes in sleep

• Mood changes, irritability, or anxiety

• Difficulty concentrating or feeling mentally foggy

• Changes in menstrual cycles during perimenopause

• Vaginal dryness, discomfort, or urinary symptoms

• Changes in sexual health or libido

• Changes in weight or body composition

• Questions about bone, heart, and long-term health

• Questions about hormone and non-hormonal treatment options
What Menopause Care May Include
A Plan Built Around You
There is no single menopause treatment that is right for everyone. Depending on your symptoms, health history, risk factors, and preferences, your care plan may include:

• A detailed review of symptoms, health history, medications, and goals

• Lifestyle strategies related to sleep, movement, nutrition, stress, and overall wellbeing

• Review of preventive health needs and age-appropriate screenings

• Laboratory testing when clinically appropriate

• Discussion of non-hormonal options for symptom management

• Discussion of menopausal hormone therapy when appropriate

• Treatment or referral for vaginal and urinary symptoms when needed

• Ongoing follow-up to evaluate symptoms, treatment response, and changing needs
Why Menopause Care Belongs in Primary Care
This Stage of Life Is About More Than Hormones
Midlife is also an important time to stay connected to preventive care and long-term health. Your primary care relationship allows menopause concerns to be considered alongside blood pressure, cholesterol, metabolic health, bone health, mental health, sleep, medications, cancer screening, and other preventive needs.

Whole-Person Care: We consider symptoms in the context of your complete health picture.
More Time to Talk: A relationship-based model creates room to discuss concerns that may not fit into a rushed visit.
Connected Care: Menopause treatment stays connected to preventive care and other ongoing health needs.
Ongoing Support: Your plan can evolve as symptoms, health risks, and goals change over time.

What About Labs?
Menopause is often identified based on age, menstrual history, and symptoms rather than a single hormone test. Laboratory testing may still be useful when the clinical picture is unclear, symptoms suggest another condition, or testing is needed to evaluate other aspects of your health.
Your provider will recommend testing based on your individual circumstances rather than using a one-size-fits-all panel.
Medications, Labs & Additional Costs
Your DWPC membership provides access to your primary care provider and ongoing medical guidance. Prescription medications, laboratory testing, imaging, pharmacy charges, or outside services may involve additional costs.
When additional testing or treatment is recommended, we will help you understand the next steps and available options whenever possible.
